Restaurant Jean-Louis Closing its Doors

Celebrity chef and owner Jean-Louis Gerin is reportedly packing it up after deciding to take a job a vice president of culinary operations and executive chef at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT.

After nearly 30 years in business, one Greenwich's best-known upscale eateries, Restaurant Jean-Louis on Lewis Street is reportedly closing its doors.

According to a report in the Greenwich Time, celebrity chef and owner Jean-Louis Gerin is packing it up after deciding to take a job as vice president of culinary operations and executive chef at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT.

Gerin, who earlier this year reportedly plans to continue operating his growing catering business and will continue to live in Greenwich, according to the report. In addition he will continue to sell his famous chocolates, pâte, champagne and olive oils online.

Restaurant Jean-Louis will close its doors at the end of December, according to the report. To celebrate the restaurant's nearly 30 years of success in Greenwich, Gerin is reportedly planning a special seven-course "best of" tasting menu, including some of his most successful dishes.
