DSW Show Warehouse and a Trader Joes where Dakota's once was. Is it true that a HOME GOODS store is opening in the old Boarders and that's why TJMaxx is leaving? The people in TJMaxx say we're getting a Home Goods... I really think it's a shame how many empty buildings we have along Rt.44 in town.. If this keeps up we're going to look like a ghost town yet all the while you post about houses selling for one,two Million dollars or more.. Canton Shopping Center is not shutting stores down so what is going on in Avon? TJ Maxx was always busy whenever I was in there, which was often so I find it pathetic that they're pulling out on such short notice. On an up note the employees have all been offered jobs in other TJ's that I didn't even know were around here. I'd also like a Bloomingdale's in town. It would do well and one wouldn't have to go to the Mall to Nordstroms so often or shop when in NYC visiting family. NO MORE BANKS!!!! Wouldn't mind a Red Lobster either or PLEASE, a SONIC BURGER.... and yes, still want a 24 hr diner with eggs all day like the famous N.J. diners!!! :)

40% off in The Max yesterday though pickings are slim to none. I got a Flat Iron that I sorely needed that retails for $275.00!!!! for $29.99 less 20 percent..

Joyce I vote for Target, Trader Joes, or a Dollar Store. Target would be great.

Joyce Why have we never been told, why Brick Yard Road was closed all Sunday afternoon, two Sundays ago? It made quite a jam of cars on Route 4.

Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Let's upgrade the neighborhood, please

I think we need another freakin' bank and another CVS. I would be great to have a new bank next to a mega-monster (BOA) bank which is next to another new bank being built which is across the street from yet another freakin' bank that no one needs. As for CVS - go away! We have one already on Rt 44!

Yes Eric, Ruth Chris Steakhouse sounds yummy... Or a Morton's or best yet 'The Palm.' Spify, we only have one CVS in Avon that I know of. Where is the other? BTW, B.O.A. is awesome. The people that work there are great.. I will admit I'm old as my original account that my Parents started for me as a kid in West Hartford was with CBT and now through numerous changes it's B.O.A... In all those years I only had my acct number changed once... I know I still lived down in Greenwich and it was before B.O.A. and from Mass. I was told someone in Mass had the same acct #... I agree as I stated earlier today, no more banks!

Yo Marcy, the construction mess that's going on just over the Canton line a little past The Canton Shops is going to be a CVS. That makes 2 CVS pharmacies about 2 miles apart on route 44. What a waste!

The space is too small for a Target, and, with Fresh Market across the street, they will not put in a Trader Joe's. A Dollar Store???? Are we intentionally trying to drag down Avon? I agree with continuing to upgrade the area with any type of higher end retail or upscale restaurant and opposed to a fast food joint or bargain retailer.

I agree Spify though I didn't know that as I usually just turn in the mall on the left, come out , turn right and head back to Avon.Apparently I need my eyes checked as I've not noticed construction going on. Thanks for telling me and I agree.. I use Walgreens for their ease in getting scripts /open 24 hrs. if needed.. If a DOLLAR STORE is one of those things like Jay Leno use to put on his show with stupid products I know I'd never go near it for fear of it not being what it says it was/is. I know we don't need any more fast food places but I've always wanted a Sonic Burger or an In and Out like out in Ca. We also don't need any more ice cream stores.. Still would love a Bloomingdale's but not likely to happen. Apparently the Home Goods isn't even opening until March. And TJ's got a rent increase they weren't happy with I was told by a worker, a Corporate Decision. Would love to see a Papyrus Card store also..Their cards are beautiful as is everything in the store.!!!

I know a home office representative for Tjx, and everyone was offered to work at the three divisions of Tjx, Homegoods,TJ Maxx, Marshalls. They have debating on closing for a while, and factors were rent, and sales, and growth of a possible Homegoods to move in Avon. Sales is the most factor it has been decreasing every year.
Michel July 18, 2012 at 11:01 PM
Something a little more upscale...we already have Marshall's in Avon and Walmart across the street. That's plenty of trash for Avon residents to sift through.

how about Hooters? Or TGIF?

I've been thinking this week and since the nearest is in New Haven, not exactly a throwns throw with gasoline almost at $4.10 here in 06001 , what about an IKEA where TJ MAX here.. For all those with kids going off to Prep School or College soon, it came to mind that you can find some nice bedding there and college room needs there as well as odds and ends. Though not an over the top high end furniture I looked on line and it has other things as well. I think it would be fun to have a store like this in our little town and that TJ Max's location would be a great spot for it. Now, how you go about getting a business to come here I for one don't know.. Any other opinions.. Have been looking for this article for a week to post this since it was posted earlier..
