Address

36 Coventry Lane, Avon, CT

How did you come up with the name?

Basically, it reflects what I help businesses, brands, products and services create — the "right" marketing concept for their business.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

The business was already started before we moved to Avon. We chose Avon because of the town, schools and access to airport.

Briefly, what business are you in?

Marketing Consulting, Training and Market Research

What's the most difficult moment or challenge you've faced as a business owner?

Economic downturn a few years ago — outsider consultants are often the first to go!

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?

The continual need to develop and maintain an active client list is always a challenge. Often you spend a lot of time developing a client relationship and then the client is told that they have to use certain suppliers, etc.

What's been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Publishing my book "Marketing Concepts that Win!" in 2011. It takes a lot of time and discipline to write a book so it was pretty exciting to hold the paperback in my hands.

What's the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?

I've taken my intellectual property and monetized it through a book, offering paid tele-seminars, downloadable content, and serving as a "go to" person for educational content, such as for the website MarketingProfs.com.

How do you deal with difficult customers?

Generally, I acknowledge the fact that it is a short term engagement I am working on with them, since my work is project based. If they are extremely difficult, I am "busy" the next time they call! :-)

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

I am a regular volunteer at Gifts of Love in Avon and help the organization with their marketing communications. I have also supported two children in Guatemala through an organization called Safe Passage for the past four years.

I've met the family and helped them rebuild their 1 room home outside of the Guatemala City Dump (the largest in the Americas). In addition, I have also served on the Board of Directors for the Warner Theatre and am currently an advisor for the organization based in Torrington, CT.
