CBIA- CT Manufacturing and Technology Day at the Capitol

Last Wednesday at the State Capitol was a great day for local CT manufacturing companies to share products that are locally made with our legislators. Miller Foods, Inc. was one of forty local manufacturing companies that participated in CT Manufacturing and Technology Day at the Capitol. CBIA, Connecticut Business and Industry Association, which hosted the event continues to advocate for business by providing opportunities to share information and lobby for a more business friendly environment in Connecticut. My aunt, cousin and I set up our booth displaying our Turkease (our trademarked semi-boneless turkey) as well as Oma’s Pride (our natural raw pet food) and O’Paws (our freeze dried treat line). While we have been know for our famous Miller fresh turkeys and poultry products for decades, we are now known as a local manufacturer of natural raw pet food. How times change! Wednesday was our opportunity to share what our needs are as a local manufacturer with our local government officials at the state Capitol. We were able to speak with more than one hundred people as they made their way to our booth. The highlight of the day was when we had stepped away from our booth to attend a seminar and Governor Malloy walked by our booth and asked someone, “Can they find me an organic dog?” What he found when he returned from his travels of the day were O’Paws freeze dried Duck Feet on his desk with a message stating that we missed him but he was welcome to come by for a tour of our facility and a friendly Miller luncheon. Keep you posted! We were sure to let our local legislators know that we need more support in the way of research and development grants, funds for training new employees and better rates on electricity to make us more competitive in the marketplace.
