Do You Know What to Do IF Your Dog Goes Missing?

Below are listed resources that every pet owner
should know about.  In CT, some Facebook groups in CT do NOT let you know about these valuable resources.  Be ware of any pet tracker fee based service that cold calls you.  Reputable pet detectives/trackers do NOT cold call anyone.

Beware of any group that creates a Facebook Group for your missing pet and does NOT add you as an Administrator.  We have found that such groups often block helpful people and groups and do not allow people to post the resources listed here.  Such tactics are harmful to the search for your missing pet.

Contact GSDR with information about your missing dog (or a dog you found) to create flyer which they will share on their Facebook page.  GSDR is an excellent source for getting the word out. Their Facebook page has over 30,000 members; therefore your missing dog will get wide exposure.

Missing Pet Partnership is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to reuniting lost companion animals with their owners. MPP offers phone consultations using volunteers trained in coaching families in how to recover a lost dog or cat. MPP also has pet detectives who can help remotely or at the scene. The website offers behavior-based lost pet recovery tips and referrals to lost pet services. MPP volunteers are pioneers of cutting edge lost pet recovery techniques such as: pet detectives with search dogs, window tagging to market lost dogs in a community, and motion activated wildlife cameras with feeding stations to detect and capture displaced/lost cats. The Missing Pet Partnership page has a section of excellent recovery tips and warnings about scams.

CT Lost and Found Animal Facebook Page

This Facebook group is an excellent place to post a missing or found animal.  The group has over 2,000 members and is very effective at getting the word out.  They also have a policy that no one is to solicit business from the people who post to the site or advertise a paid business on the site.  This policy was enacted after many pet owners complained that they were cold called by various businesses and groups offering to help find their missing pet or handle the search for their missing pet.
