AOF Remains Open During Storm Aftermath

Day students are excused if they cannot make it due to the storm damage.

While are in their second day of school cancellations due to the October snowstorm, continues to have classes Tuesday.

Headmaster Ken Larocque said that the all-boy private school does not expect all day students to come if the commute is too dangerous.

"Day faculty and students should use their best judgement as far as coming to campus," he wrote in an e-mail to students, staff and parents Monday. "Please do not place yourself in danger to do so."

Avon Old Farms has power, heat and enough fuel to keep the generators running for "several days," he wrote.

"In fact, we received a fuel shipment today and are expecting another 2,500 gallons tomorrow," Larocque wrote in his e-mail.

Day students who do not have power at their homes are welcome to stay on campus "where they will be more comfortable," he wrote.

"Obviously they need a sleeping bag and should let Mr. Gardner know of their intentions," Larocque wrote.
