Avon and Canton Teens Charged in Underage Drinking Incident

One adult was also cited for providing the alcohol, according to police.

Underage drinking has become a hot topic in Canton after some arrests and hospital transports on Super Bowl weekend.

Around midnight on Saint Patrick's Day, police responded to another incident, this time on High Hill Road, after neighbors called with noise complaints, Canton Police Chief Christopher Arciero said.

Police cited five minors for possession of alcohol and one adult for providing it, he said. The adult was not the homeowner, he added.

Three of the youths were from Avon and two from Canton, according to the police chief.

"This underscores, again, the importance of parents and neighbors contacting us," Arciero said.

Police, the schools and the Canton Community of Concern sponsored programs before the February incidents but have organized more programs since for parents and students. They plan to announce further initiatives to combat underage drinking and drug use.

Arciero has also stressed that the main police number of 860-693-0221 does not have caller id and that anyone can call with a tip and remain anonymous.
