TOWN MEETINGS

Monday, Nov. 28

  • The Board of Finance is scheduled to meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the Selectmen's Chamber in Town Hall, Building One.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

  • Avon Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala is scheduled to present his proposed 2012-13 budget at a special Board of Education meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Avon High School Community Room.

Thursday, Dec. 1

  • The is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Avon High School Community Room to hear input from the community.
  • The Town Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. in the Selectmen's Chamber in Town Hall Thursday.

Nov. 29

  • Cooking with Aaron is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the . One of the senior center interns will give a cooking demonstration. The cost to attend is $5. To register, contact the senior center at 860-675-4355.
  • will have its first performance at Avon Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 1

  • The Avon library and the senior center will hold a book discussion about Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm. Thursday at the Avon Senior Center.

Dec. 2

  • Kids for Kids' Candle of Hope ceremony at Riverdale Farms Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The nonprofit organization serves to benefit pediatric cancer patients. There will be caroling and rumor has it Santa will be there in his sleigh.

Saturday, Dec. 3

  • The Marthas and Marys of the in Avon are hosting The Christmas Marketplace at the at 9 a.m. There will be caroling, a yuletide cafe and other holiday festivities.The will have a booth there.
  • Avon Boy Scout Troop 274 is having a can and bottle drive at 8 a.m. Saturday at the on Route 44 in Avon. They are also selling Christmas trees. Avon Girl Scout Troop 61119 will be selling .
