Avon Old Farms Flies Flag at Half-Staff for Alumnus Killed in Afghanistan

U.S. Army Capt. Andrew Pedersen-Keel graduated from the Avon all-boys private school in 2002.

The Avon Old Farms School community mourned the death of one of its own Wednesday and flew its American flag at half-staff over a dorm he used to live in.

School officials got word Tuesday evening that U.S. Army Capt. Andrew Pedersen-Keel, a 2002 graduate of the all-boys private school, was killed in Afghanistan.

Pedersen-Keel is a Madison native, but his mother lived in Canton while he was at school in Avon.

He played football and lacrosse and wrestled. Pedersen-Keel, known as PK by staff and classmates, was the editor of The Avon Record, the school newspaper. He also was a young humanitarian, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and participating in the school's Model United Nations.
