Car Snaps Utility Pole on Burnham Road
Some Avon residents experienced power outages.
A utility pole on Burnham Road snapped after a car collided with it Monday evening, police said.
Police were dispatched to the scene of a one-car accident around 6:30 p.m.
Some Avon residents lost power as a result. As of 7:57 p.m., Connecticut Light & Power reported at least 62 outages in town.

Burnham Road was closed between Country Club and Sleepy Hollow Roads and police anticipated it would remain shut down for at least four or five hours.
Police did not report any serious injuries.
