Five Items on the Agenda at the Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting

Five things to know on June 28, 2011.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center. There will be public hearings for the following applications:

  • As part of its proposal to build a Reggio Magnet School of the Arts at 59 Waterville Rd., the Capitol Region Education Council is requesting a two-lot subdivision that will allow the previous owner, Dr. Roy Beebe to keep the land where Avon Cider Mill and the former Le Jardin buildings are located. The education council has also filed an application for a special permit that will permit a public school on parcel, an RU2A residential zone. Finally, the commission is scheduled to vote on approving the education council's site plan and parking layout proposal.
  • The commission is also scheduled to review ammendments to proposed zoning regulations for a new Village Center Zone and the 2006 Plan of Conservation and Development to adopt the village center masterplan design guidelines.
  • The Colony Grill of Avon LLC has applied for a special exception to permit a Class III restaurant at 315 West Main St., also known as the Nod Brook Mall. The Ninety-Nine Restaurant and Pub space, which was located in the plaza, has been vacant since the chain closed on Dec. 24, 2010.
