Bear Kills Dog on Stonefield Road Friday

Linda Jensen was gardening at a client's home on Stonefield Road Friday when a mother black bear killed her 5-year-old brown cocker spaniel, Max. Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection officials tranquilized the 225-pound bear and her two cubs, and tagged them so they can track them when they are released back into the wild. Our condolences to Jensen, her husband, Robert Anania and their springer spaniel, Jenny. Jensen and Anania adopted Max from the Avon Canine Shelter in Nov. 2006. Animal Control Officer Beverly LaPlume brought Max to be cremated on Friday per Jensen's request.
