Geoff Fox: Give Me Another Chance

The popular meteorologist speaks for the first time Sunday night and asks Fox CT to reconsider its decision to let him go.

Meteorologist Geoff Fox, who was let go Friday by Fox CT for "inappropriate conduct," is asking his former employer to reconsider that decision.

In a blog posted Sunday night, Fox admits to the conduct and asks for a second chance.

"I know my former bosses in Hartford and Chicago will see this," he writes on his blog, "My Permanent Record." "I am on my knees begging you reconsider your decision and please take me back. I am asking for another chance."

Fox was fired after transcripts of conversations of a sexual nature he had with a woman surfaced on the Internet. The private messages were sent through Facebook, and it's not clear how they were made public.

"I had no idea this private conversation would be made public, but what I did was still wrong even if it had remained private," Fox said. "This is a very difficult time for my family. I betrayed a trust with my wife and daughter which won’t be mended quickly. I have made promises to them I intend to keep."

As when he was let go from WTNH, where he worked for decades, his fans have been vocal in their support of him and their opposition to Fox CT's decision to let him go.

"...what EVER happened, this is your PERSONAL life….and it is not for any of us to judge or quite frankly to be privy to," one blog reader commented. "What you did was wrong, but in turn, whomever felt the need to destroy you, your family, your fans, your friends by making your private life public, without your consent is far more amoral."

Fox has been married for many years to his wife Helaine and they have a grown daughter. They live in Hamden.
