Last Chance! Have Something to Say About Avon's Proposed Budget?

The annual Board of Finance budget hearing, scheduled for April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center, is your opportunity to voice your opinions before the finance board votes on the proposed $81.76 million budget.

Before the Board of Finance votes on a budget to send to referendum in May, Avon residents and taxpayers will have the opportunity to voice their questions, opinions and concerns about the $81.76 million combined proposal on Monday.

The public hearing on the 2013-14 budget starts at 7 p.m. on April 8 at the Avon Senior Center.

The combined proposed total includes requests of about $28.93 million for the town operating, capital improvement, debt services and sewers budgets and $52.8 million for the school board operating budget. It would require a 2.6 percent tax rate increase to achieve the proposed budget.

The annual Board of Finance budget workshop is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center. The board typically votes on the proposal at the end of the workshop.

Anyone with questions on the public hearing can call the Town Manager's Office at 860-409-4300 for more information. The proposed operating budget is available at the Avon Free Public Library and on the Avon town website.

The Avon Senior Center is located at 635 West Avon Rd.
