Patch Tips Video: 4th of July Drink Idea

The Hessian Lion, of Avon, shows Patch how to make a vanilla mint lemonade to cool off for the upcoming holiday.

If there's anything that can help you beat the heat this 4th of July, whether it's under the sun or by the grill, it's an ice cold glass of lemonade – style.

Michael Alfed, a Canton resident and the owner of Avon's Hessian Lion bar, not only gave us the recipe for a popular summer drink made there but also showed us how to make it on camera.

Enjoy the video, the first in our Patch tips series, intended to show readers how to do different things, from cooking to playing guitar. If you have an idea for something you'd like to have a local expert show you how to do, post a comment or email Avon Patch at Jessie.Sawyer@patch.com.

In the meantime, here's what you need to make a vanilla mint lemonade:

  • 1.5 ounces of Stoli Vanil
  • 4 ounces of lemonate (fresh squeezed lemonade makes it better)
  • A splash of club soda
  • A sprig of fresh mint
