Robert Whitty Retires, Town Council Meeting Thursday Night and More

Wednesday was Robert Whitty's last day as Avon Police Department captain before he starts as a math teacher at Avon Old Farms. The department has not found a replacement yet.

In other town talk, John Paul Henares, Avon eighth grader and home school student made it to the third round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in Virginia Wednesday. He did not qualify for the semifinals, but he did spell his second and third round words right.
