Five things that went on over the weekend.

It was a pretty active weekend in Avon, and here are some of the festivities that went on. If you attended any of them, you are welcome to comment on the articles. We would love to hear your thoughts.

Jarrett's Castle has been the talk of the valley towns, and Ed Jarrett's third attempt to achieve the Guinness Book world record for the tallest sandcastle is looking promising at Winding Trails in Farmington. The official measurement is 38 feet, .75 inches tall, and now he just awaits confirmation from Guinness that he has broken his 2007 record of just over 31 feet. Avon High School Theater hit it home with their performance of Damn Yankees this weekend. If you missed it, Patch freelance videographer Meghan Moore took some video of the event.

The state honored their fallen comrades at an annual memorial service in Avon on Sunday.
