Valentine's Day, Library Program, Booster Club Meeting and Big Band Music

Five things you need to know about Avon on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011

Happy Valentine’s Day Avon! Today marks 34 days until spring arrives. Although there is still plenty of snow around, it is supposed to warm up this week, which could shrink some of those mounds of snow at  the bottoms of our driveways and intersections.

The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for March 15, 2011. In the meantime, Interim School Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler has issued a letter to the Avon community regarding  snow related issues including the six days of school already cancelled and snow on the school roofs.  

Children in grades 2 and 3 are invited to  the today to join the Time for Kids After School Club. This program meets monthly and focuses on current events through arts and crafts, reading and investigation.  You can register for this event which runs from 4-5 p.m.

The Avon High School Booster Club will hold it’s monthly meeting today from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the .  The Booster Club supports all boys' and girls' athletic programs in the Avon School system, with emphasis on high school sports.  All parents are encouraged to become a member and help sustain these sports programs.

There will be a free Big Band Concert at the this evening from 7-8 p.m. Swing on by with your Valentine, and listen to the Solid Oak Band perform Big Band favorites.
