Video: CREC's Neighbors Addressed Planning and Zoning June 7 About CREC Proposal

Three residents that live near proposed Waterville site spoke about their concerns with the project.

On June 7, the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was packed with many supporters for the Capitol Region Education Council's proposal to rebuild its Reggio Magnet School at 59 Waterville Road in Avon, from education council staff to Avon school board members.

There were also residents with concerns about the project at the meeting, and three addressed their opinions about the proposal with the commission before a packed room.

Bruce Murray, 93 Ayrshire Lane, raised concerns about how locating the school on Waterville Road might affect traffic on Route 10 and Route 44.

Eric Throndson, of the Avonwood Road Residents Association and an Avon Place Condo owner, said that he and other Avonwood Road residents have concerns related to Waterville and Avonwood roads and parking and he will discuss those concerns at the next meeting on June 28.

Joe Delbone, whose family has owned the property adjacent to the Avon Cider Mill site on 45 Waterville Road for 100 years, stated that he opposed the proposal. He was concerned about  the magnet school site on Waterville being a tax-exempt property and how the school might affect his property value.
