What's Open in Avon?

Irene's visit is over, so where can you get dinner or replenish supplies?

Most businesses on Route 44 were closed Sunday, but a select few were open as of 5 p.m.

Avon's and Big Y remained opened as promised, though water supplies were still low. There was no water in sight at Walmart, and Big Y only had 8-ounce and quart-sized bottles of water left on its shelves. A lonely flashlight as small as a pencil and a head flashlight were the only items left in the flashlight section at Walmart and almost all batteries were sold out. A lot of milk was gone at Big Y as of early Sunday evening, but most other food products were aplenty.

and were also open. While was closed, the 24-7 drive-thru ATM was functioning properly. Supercuts was the only other business in the Walmart Plaza that was closed.

and were the only businesses open Sunday, and West Avon Pizza staff said the pizza establishment opened at noon. West Avon Pizza is also running delivery services. Marshall's had its windows taped up in preparation for a hurricane, and a notice on the door said the store will reopen on Monday.

Almost all of Avon Marketplace was closed Sunday, with the exception of and . Across Route 44, was also filled with customers.

was also open at the intersection of Dale Road and Route 44 and most gas stations on Route 44 at the very least had running pumps.

Puerto Vallerta is serving this evening, and Petco closed at 2 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, according to a notice on the door.
