Who will be the next top chef?

In the Farmington Valley, that is, at Ready ... Set ... Cook, a cooking competition fundraiser Sunday that will benefit in Avon.

Matt Cormier of The Meat House in Avon and Scott Miller of Max Oyster Bar in West Hartford will take on last year's champion, Van Hurd of Jordan Catering.

Each team is made up of a chef, celebrity and executive sponsor, and three people will judge the contest. The winner will be named Gifts of Love's top chef.

Gifts of Love began in a woman's garage in Simsbury and "supports the basic needs of individuals and families experiencing temporary financial crises, so they can achieve or maintain self-sufficiency," according to the non-profit's website, supporting 350 families in over 30 Connecticut towns and supplying them with "food, clothing, furniture, and household items."

The fundraiser costs $50 per person. Held at Tunxis Plantation in Farmington, the event includes a brunch, cooking showdown, live entertainment, complimentary champagne, delicious desserts, "make your own" sundaes, tea cup/silent auctions and other activities.

Ready ... Set ... Cook begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 12.
