Sundays at Three - The Kelet Duo

The Avon Public Library’s winter concert series, “Sundays at Three,” invites you on an adventurous musical odyssey March 3, courtesy of the acclaimed Kelet Duo.  Pianist Pi-Hsun Shih and violinist Katalin Viszmeg, gifted artists with extensive international performance experience, will be presenting a program they are calling “Far and Away,” a journey of musical exploration beyond the familiar Germanic composers.  Originally from Taiwan and Hungary, respectively, your tour guides are eminently qualified to lead such a quest.

On the program will be selections by Norway’s greatest composer, Edvard Grieg; Heitor Villa-Lobos, the best-known and most significant Latin American composer to date; Chinese violinist and composer Ma Sicong;  Chen Yi, perhaps the most internationally renowned female Asian composer of contemporary music today; and Berdřich Smetana, widely regarded in his homeland as the father of Czech music.

Refreshments will be served after the performance and there will be an opportunity to meet these marvelous musicians.
