Get Your Ducks In A Row!

When it comes to your future, do you have all your "ducks in a row?"

The Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association is pleased to be partnering with area attorneys, professional organizers, and funeral directors to raise awareness about the importance of making as many medical and health care decisions as possible in advance. While no one is fully able to anticipate what their future may hold, "Get Your Ducks In A Row" will offer a practical overview of available community resources and helpful suggestions for thinking ahead about long-term care planning.

This informative panel discussion will present proactive ways to become familiar with health care options, your legal rights, ways to protect your estate, and to become comfortable with initiating discussions and making key decisions regarding family, health, and future matters. With more than 20 years of experience, Attorney Neil Kramer will present information on estate planning and the laws that protect you and your assets. Professional organizer Regina Sanchez will offer tips for organizing and "right-sizing" your home. Carmon Funeral Home Director/Embalmer Nicole Paquette will explain the benefits of pre-planning your funeral or cremation and discuss ways to shelter your assets. Farmington Valley VNA Community Liaison Sandee Fleet will provide an overview of in-home care services and support options available through the Farmington Valley VNA.

"Get Your Ducks In A Row" will be presented on Tuesday, October 29th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center at 301 Country Club Road in Avon. Additional presentations will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Granby Senior Center, and on Tuesday, December 10th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Simsbury Public Library. There is no pre-registration or fees associated with this event. Please call 860.651.3539 for more information or to host a presentation for your group or organization.
