Pasta Supper to Benefit Avon and Farmington Fuel Banks

For the third year, Memorial United Methodist Church, 867

West Avon Road in Avon, will host a Pasta Supper to benefit the local fuel

banks of Avon and Farmington.  The date
is Friday, January 24th 5:30-7pm in Fellowship Hall at the
church.  Admission is by free will

donation. The dinner includes pasta with sauce, bread, salad, beverages, and
fabulous homemade desserts by church members.

The fuel banks of Avon and Farmington are available to residents who have exhausted their benefits through the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program. Last year, Farmington Town Social Services supplied over  2,546 gallons of heating fuel  to more than 72 households.  In addition, help was given towards electric costs for those with electric heat.  The Town of Avon reports their fuel bank assists approx. 35 families per year at a cost of $12,500.   Pam Fleming, Chair of the church’s Mission/Outreach Committee, hopes that the pasta supper will bring in even more money then last year, “Last year’s dinner made over $2000, which we split between the two fuel banks.  We hope this year we can make at least that much because the need has increased from 2013.”  For more information, contact the church office at 860-673-2111.
