Friends of Zoey-Lost dogs and cats in Ct is a search and recovery team that helps to reunite families with their lost pets. Just a week ago one of our volunteers even dug in the dirt and searched high and low for 2 lost hermit crabs. Two young boys were so upset by their missing hermit crabs, one of the volunteers rushed right over to help in the search. That is the kind of people that are in our group. This group that came together in April ( a few of us helped in the searches for Sassy and Ellie in Farmington) but Zoey is the girl that brought this core group together. I had a women yesterday that said she would love to help but her health doesn't allow it. She suffers from chronic fatigue and other disorders, but as I explained to her, some volunteers never leave their home. We have people who make up posters, make up facebook pages, call ACO's, call local pounds and other things that don't warrant going out and hiking through woods. We all do our part to help find these pets. We give family hope and if all goes well, a reunion with their pet. The people we help at first look at us strange or may think we're a little odd, they always ask us.... Are you sure you want to help us , or , are you sure we don't have to pay you. We always reply, "We're sure". We just love animals and love helping others and their pets.
We are having a tag sale on Sunday Sept 29th from 12-5 at Fringe Salon, 9 School St in Unionville (next to George's Pizza) during the Unionville Festival to raise money for Trail camera's and humane dog/cat traps. We are currently searching for a stray dog that was spotted in Torrington by good Samaritans that reached out to us. She was seen skinny, scared and looked like she just had pups. We set up feeding stations and thankfully could borrow trail camera's so we can see if the dog is eating the food. Camera's are so important. So please stop by and buy some cool things and help a great cause.
