Avon UNICO Supports Gifts of Love's Capital Campaign

Gifts of Love is in the midst of a $1.5 million Capital Campaign to raise money to help finance its new permanent home at 34 East Main Street.  The building, purchased in July 2013, reflects the organization’s continued commitment to the community and its clients.  

Avon UNICO recently made a donation to Gifts of Love to support its Capital Campaign, which will be used to help offset the mortgage and fund a cash reserve insuring Gifts of Love future to help the community.  Gifts of Love's Capital Campaign will continue through 2015 and contributions of any size can be donated at www.giftsoflovect.org.   

Gifts of Love provides basic needs – food, clothing, furniture, household items, and energy assistance. In order to qualify for programs, in most cases, someone in the household must be working or enrolled in school beyond high school. 

Clients come to Gifts of Love at one of the worst times in their lives. The new space is larger, more welcoming and bright.  Last year, more than 13,000 people came to Gifts of Love for assistance, over 250 volunteers gave their time to support the agency and donations came from all areas of our community, including Avon UNICO.

The Avon UNICO’s purpose is to unite all Italian Americans and motivate them to become more civic minded. In order to accomplish this, members understand that they have to make sacrifices, not for personal gain, but for service to others. UNICO has become an acronym for Unity, Neighborliness, Integrity, Charity, and Opportunity.
