Avon Library Forgives Fines After Patrons Did This to Help Families in Need

Paying is one way to eliminate those library fines, but the Avon Free Public Library recently forgave patrons' late fees if they brought in food to donate to the Gifts of Love food pantry.

Carolyn McGrattan said there was a strong response to the event, which filled an entire flatbed truck with food for families going through rough economic times. She expressed gratitude to the library and town for the support.

"It's something we're very respectful of. That's money in the town's general fund," McGrattan said referring to the fines.
