AARP Forum on Future of Medicare and Social Security

AARP Connecticut is asking residents of Avon and surrounding communities to weigh in with their opinions and concerns about options being discussed in Washington D.C. and among political candidates to reform Medicare and Social Security at a Community Forum on Wednesday, September 19 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM at the Farmington Woods Clubhouse, Upstairs North Lounge, 43 Heritage Drive, Avon, CT. To register, call 1-877-926-8300.

With a growing elderly population, rising health costs and longer life expectancies, Social Security and Medicare are facing significant fiscal challenges in the years to come.  The next Congress and President could make decisions about these programs that would impact today’s seniors and future generations.  AARP has launched You’ve Earned a Say to help ordinary citizens understand the options that are being discussed, both the pros and the cons, so they can make up their own minds and make their voices heard.

AARP commissioned experts from The Heritage Foundation, The Brookings Institute, The National Academy for Social Insurance and Avalere Health to analyze more than a dozen options for reforming Social Security and Medicare and provide the pros and cons for each in straightforward language, without political spin or jargon.  The information will be discussed at the forum and is available at: www.earnedasay.org
