Celebrating 100 Years of Girl Scouting

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting, the Avon Service Unit is planning a special promise circle on Monday, March 12th, at the Avon Middle School, to recite the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

There will be a proclamation read by David Pena, Avon Town Council Member, declaring the week of March 12th Girl Scout Week.

In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low created the Girl Scouts with 12 girls. One hundred years later, Girl Scouts serve over 2.3 million girl members and approximately 900,000 adult members. In Connecticut alone, we serve 46,500 girls and over 19,000 volunteers. This promise circle will remember our founder’s vision and note how far we’ve come and how much farther we’re going!
