Tip-A-Cop

The Avon Police Department, along with the Simsbury and Canton Police Departments, will be hosting a Tip-A-Cop to benefit the Special Olympics on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 11am to 8:00 pm at Bertucci's Brick Oven Restaurant in Avon, CT.

Officers will trade in their handcuffs and badges for menus and serving trays to assist Bertucci's wait staff and collect "tips" as donations to raise money for the Special Olympics.  All proceeds from the Tip-A-Cop event will go directly to Special Olympics.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.
