What's Cooking at Gifts of Love?

Ask the staff at Gifts of Love what is going on at the Avon non-profit and you'll soon learn that the answer is a lot.

As the organization waits to close on the new building it is purchasing next week, staff and volunteers are busy with programming and planning events.

Two in particular are Ready, Set, Cook, an Aug. 9 cooking competition, and the annual Gifts of Love Night Out in Style gala on Nov. 9.

Gifts of Love spokesperson Carolyn McGrattan said that volunteer Angel Ruegg is playing a major role in the planning process. The Bristol resident has a deep-rooted connection to the Gifts of Love cause.

"She was a client nine years ago and she comes back to volunteer," McGrattan said. "She's going to be instrumental in our two events this year."

The chefs are already lined up for Ready, Set, Cook and Chip Miller of The Society Room in Hartford will be the lead judge.
