Getting an E-Reader for the Holidays? Avon Librarians Can Teach You How to Use It!

Learn how to get an e-book or e-magazine on you Nook, Kindle, iPad or smart phone in these Avon Free Public Library tutorials.

With the holidays approaching and tech items from Kindles to Nooks on people's wish lists, the Avon Free Public Library will offer a series of classes on e-readers. 

The e-xtravaganza includes instruction on e-readers, e-books and tablets, which will benefit people who may get a holiday gift like the "Nook and Kindle, tablets, and smart phones." 

Avon librarians are hosting tutorials on e-books on Dec. 26 at 2 p.m., Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 4 at 1 p.m.; Kindles on Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m.; Nooks on Dec. 20 at 1 p.m., Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 1 p.m.; iPads on Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m.; smart phones on Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.; and how to use zinio, the library's online magazine service, to get e-magazines on your e-readers, according to a notice from the library.

You can also make 30-minute one-on-one appointments with the librarians to learn about the e-readers on Dec. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as Jan. 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The librarians are also offering individual iPad tutorial appointments on Saturday Dec. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. that you can call to schedule.

The sessions will be in the library's computer lab and you must register to participate. The library is located at 281 Country Club Road in Avon. You can register online at www.avonctlibrary.info or call 860-673-9712 ext. 4 to make an appointment.
