The sun shines above
Swimmers and sandcastle builders
Radiating its warm rays above them.
The aroma of BBQ lingers
Through the air
Draws desperate kids
Starved and parched
After a rough play in the salty ocean water.
Music of the radio
Distracts seagulls overhead
As they circle and eye the food that mocks them.
Shouts and cries of little kids
Attempting to rid of the feathered raiders
Break out into a battle of “Who can get the most food”
Long after the bombardment of sand and food
The sky is ablaze with color.
Fiery orange, searing red, golden yellow
Mixed with the blazing outer edges.
It’s as if painter splattered them
Against a blank canvas.
