'The Maple Tree' by Julia Johnston

As the maples, oaks, and other trees shed their royal colors, we start to see many signs that we should begin preparing for the cold that inevitably is to come.

The following poem was written by Avon Middle School student Julia Johnston.

Sits all alone in the grassy meadow

The dark brown suit covers the trunk of the tree

Leaves right off to the ground.

Twirling down like tears

All alone in the meadow

Putting on an act to the fellows that walk by

Saddening minute by minute.

With the colors changing slowly

While the leaves fall rapidly

Crying because the maple tree is losing its leaves fast

Showing the mood of its feelings

All alone, leaves falling fast in the grassy meadow

The maple tree.
