Post Game Glow

An Avon mother of five (Giants fans) celebrates the game.

Sorry, Patriots fans, but … The Giants won the Super Bowl! We are so excited here!

We had our nightly dance party during the opening of the show, during “America the Beautiful,” the National Anthem, and the introduction of the players. Clea-Noelle, our baby, was dancing around with her fists in the air like a rapper, so we have decided that her rapper name is now C-No. I am rather proud of coming up with that. Big round of applause. I will now take a bow.

The boys were unimaginably thrilled. Their team now always wins. It’s true. An unbeatable record. It was such a close, tight game, the whole way through. Tom Brady is so crazy handsome anyway, that why not root for the less glamorous Eli Manning and his lovely wife and kids, who seems more “real” and “down to earth?” Though Gisele did look awesome. Anyway, that’s not the point, right?

I want to get the kids Giants shirts to wear. My dad did take me to Giants games when I was younger. I remember the enormity of the stadium. Getting that pennant to wave. The crazy traffic leaving the Meadowlands. Coming back to the city. Yes, football, I remember the traffic.

I was educated last night. See, I know very little about football in all its technicalities, or let’s just say I hardly know the basics. When the Giants got the touchdown in the fourth quarter and didn’t just go for the extra point kick I was confounded. Why is no one kicking? Apparently, they’d gone for a two-point conversion that didn't work out. Now the "why" to that is completely beyond my football capacity, the learning curve having folded in on itself.

I do remember though: Go Giants!
