Car a Little Out of Whack?

We at Monaco Ford know that winter can be especially tough on your car.

By Monaco Ford in Glastonbury

Winter can be a brutal time for cars.

All the cold, snow, salt – and potholes!

If you want to keep your car running strong – and we know you do – it’s important to maintain it in the winter months.

One good thing to do is check your car’s belts and hoses. You also want to replace the windshield wipers and wiper fluid.

Check your defrosting and heating units, and also put in the right amount of antifreeze. You will also want to check your oil, oil viscosity, and battery.

Before heading out this winter, you should check your tire pressure and consider putting snow tires on the car. Throughout the season, you’ll also want to make sure the tires are maintained.

To protect and preserve the body of your car, you’ll want to make sure that you wash it regularly to remove all the salt – preventing future rust.

Is it just me, or do the potholes seem to be worse this year?

We’ve all hit some that have made our teeth chatter. After hitting a big one - or several smaller ones - there could be damage to the steering, suspension, and alignment systems.

If you experience loss of control, swaying when making routine turns, bottoming out on city streets, or bouncing excessively on rough roads, you may have a steering or suspension issue.

You may notice pulling in one direction and uneven tire wear. These could be symptoms of an alignment problem.

Not sure what’s wrong?

Call our factory-trained technicians at 860-652-3000. They can make sure your steering, suspension, alignment – and everything else – are in tip-top shape.
