Obituary: Frank "Ned" E. Bohman, 91, of Avon

Frank "Ned" E. Bohman formerly lived in Canton and Simsbury.

Frank "Ned" E. Bohman, 91, of Avon, and formerly of Canton and Simsbury, beloved husband for 49 years to the late Marjorie (Pack) Bohman, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014.

Born in Hartford, son of the late Frank and Marion (Birchard) Bohman, he was raised in West Hartford and graduated from Hall High School. He received his B.S. from Marietta College and his Masters in Entomology from Purdue University.

Ned was president and CEO of Birchard System, Inc, his entire professional career, before retiring in 1991. He was a past president of the National Pest Control Association. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Simsbury and Valley Lodge # 36 AF & AM.

He leaves three sons Stephen P. Bohman (Rosalie) of Brooklyn, William E. Bohman (Lisa) of Canton, and Lawrence D. Bohman (Diane) of West Hartford; five grandchildren Craig James, and Susan Bohman, Ned, Julie, and Molly Bohman; three step grandchildren Sheila, Sherry, and Alf; a sister Isabelle Bohman of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Helen Paige, and his friend Barbara. The family would like to thank the staff of River Ridge of Avon and Companions & Homemakers for their exceptional care.

A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Free Mason's Hall, 991 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury followed by a memorial service. A reception will follow.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Valley Lodge #36 AF & AM, 991 Hopmeadow St. Simsbury, CT 06070 or the National Audubon Society, 97 West Cornwall Rd. Sharon, CT 06069.
