Manager: Doug Hesketh Made Avon Enterprise Rent-a-Car Office's Atmosphere 'Better by Being Here'

The 22-year-old Simsbury resident died in a car accident in his town early Wednesday morning.

Avon's Enterprise Rent-a-Car office is mourning the loss of a 22-year-old Simsbury employee who died in a car accident just after midnight early Wednesday morning.

Area Manager Kevin Linskey remembers Doug Hesketh as someone who was passionate about life, his career, customer service and his accounts at the car rental business on Route 44 in Avon. He also called Hesketh a friend.

“He really made the atmosphere of the office better by being here," Linskey said. “He always had a really positive attitude that brought out the best in others.”

Customers like Avon resident Karen Cianci also remember him well.

"I met Doug last fall. We rented a car from Enterprise because our car was in the shop," Cianci wrote in an email to Patch. "He picked me up in an Enterprise vehicle and drove back to the rental store and helped me complete all the paperwork and taught me how to use the vehicle. I found him to be extremely professional and helpful and a very nice person as well.  I was so saddened to hear about this accident."

Cianci said that her son played youth football with Hesketh's brothers in the Pop Warner League.

"We had a very pleasant conversation on the drive to Enterprise Rental" on the subject, she said.

Hesketh worked under Linskey's supervision when he was the manager at the Avon location.

“He was close to a lot of people here and he had a huge impact on all of us," Linskey said.
