Lime Bar & Grill Opens For Business

Avon eatery has big appeal.

There’s nothing like variety to entice one’s appetite and the new Lime Bar & Grill restaurant in Riverdale Farms Shopping Center in Avon does just that. The contemporary and comfortable atmosphere welcomes patrons as soon as you enter. A color palette of yellow, red and orange tinted walls create warmth for the establishment.

The ceiling composed of wooden beams catches the glow of trendy tungsten lighting fixtures.

An outdoor patio overlooks views of Hublein Tower, which can also be seen from the interior bar outfitted with plenty of monitors for live sports coverage. The lounge also accommodates diners with several tables along the room’s perimeter.

Nestled opposite the bar is an adjacent dining room, with high top tables as well as casual style dining tables that exude an inviting ambiance. An open feel continues throughout to a third area with wall-lined upholstered seating and coffee table styled service.

The appetizers are meals in themselves. Tasty treats called Bocce Balls (dough stuffed with sausage) are served over a tangy red sauce that’s lightly flavored with red pepper flakes, just enough to recognize a slight heat to the taste. Other popular starters are jalapeño poppers, Eggplant Fires, chicken wings in three variations: garlic parmesan, barbeque or buffalo, calamari and marinara sauce, and antipasto to name a few.

Several varieties of salads as main courses are presented with tantalizing accoutrements: gorgonzola, cheddar, bleu, and parmesan cheeses, craisins, sliced almonds, goat cheese croutons, crispy bacon and tortillas are some of the ingredients mixed into generous beds of crisp greens or spinach salad entrées. Steak, chicken or shrimp can be added to any salad.

Hearty sandwiches with hand cut fries are perfect for lunch or dinner. Some choices include pulled pork, cheese steak, Cajun grilled chicken or Caprese (fresh mozzarella, tomato, red onion spinach and pesto) and sausage and peppers.

A ‘Build Your Own’ burger menu offers mouth-watering Angus beef, veggie, Vegas, Cajun and Abruzzi burgers bases to build upon adding cheese choices and other toppers.

A host of daily specials incorporating pasta, steak, and seafood gives additional variety to the base menu.

The restaurant opened Sunday, Nov. 27, but owner Marc Rietze is planning an inaugural holiday party Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m.

“We’re excited and will have music on tap featuring DJ Tino and prizes such as a bicycle give-away promotion,” Rietze said. “We’re also looking forward to hosting live acoustic music performances.”

Julie Burnett, along with two friends, all Avon residents, were enjoying a girl's night out and met for a dinner there Wednesday night.

“It’s a great local spot and a unique eatery,” Burnett said. “It feels like the kind of place you'd find in a big city."

The bar menu includes martinis, margaritas and specialty drinks. For more information visit Lime Bar & Grill's website or call the restaurant at 860-674-1700. It is located at 136 Simsbury Rd in Avon.

The hours of operation are Sunday to Thursday 11:30 to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 to 2 a.m. Happy Hour runs from Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and includes food and drink specials.
