After String of Avon/Simsbury Car Break-Ins, Simsbury Police Report Further Incidents

After a string of car thefts in streets near the Avon and Simsbury town line last month, there was another series car break-ins in a Simsbury neighborhood.

Police are reminding residents to lock their doors and secure any valuables.

Thefts were reported recently by several residents in a neighborhood near Bushy Hill Road. The incidents occurred late at night or early in the morning, according to a statement from Simsbury police.

"At times, the thefts are isolated occurrences and at other times they involve neighborhoods or sections of town," the statement said.

The most recent thefts appeared to affect a specific neighborhood, similar to another recent series of thefts in a neighborhood split between Simsbury and Avon.

Simsbury police are currently investigating the thefts and working to apprehend the offenders.

"Do not leave valuables in your vehicles, lock your vehicles, use exterior lighting (both constant and motion sensitive) and call the police when you hear unusual noise or see unusual activity- people talking or barking dogs at night, people walking around late at night," the statement said.
