DUI
Richard B. Johnston, 62, of 7 Sycamore Ln., Avon, was charged with driving under the influence with implied consent to test refuse and cited with failure to drive in the proper lane on July 24 at 9:40 p.m. He was arrested at the West Avon Road and Arch Road intersection. Police released him on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 8.
Possession of Narcotics
Barry Brandon, 19, of 128 Wolcott Woods, Simsbury, was charged with illegal possession near a school, possession of narcotics, sale of a controlled substance and sale of drugs near a prohibited place on July 24 at 3:56 p.m. Police arrested him on Thompson Road in Avon near the Farmington Valley Greenway trails. Police released him on a $5,000 non-surety bond and he is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 8.
Possession of Alcohol by a Minor
A juvenile was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor on July 23 at 9:07 p.m. Police issued the teenager a juvenile summons and written promise to appear in juvenile court on Aug. 3. The Avon Police Department does not release the identities of people arrested under the age of 18.
