Avon School Secretary Recovering After Lovely Street Accident

A Roaring Brook School secretary was injured in a in Avon Jan. 11 on Lovely Street.

Farmington resident Delores Angelbeck, 61, has been released from the hospital and is going to be OK, Chief Mark Rinaldo said Tuesday. The driver of the other car, Sabadino Parker, 35, of New Britain, however, is still in the hospital, he said.

Angelbeck was on her way home from work last Wednesday when the accident happened, Roaring Brook staff confirmed, and she hasn't returned to work since.

Roaring Brook Principal Crisanne Colgan said that students made cards for Angelback and that they were delivered to her home by the day after the accident.

Following the collision Jan. 11 between her 2004 SUV and Parker's red 1991 Acura, Angelbeck was transported via ambulance to the hospital, police said. Members of the extricated Parker from his car, Rinaldo confirmed, before LifeStar airlifted him to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The accident happened at 4:20 p.m. near the intersection with Chevas Road, according to police. The road was closed down for about five hours as police investigated.

That was the second accident Parker was involved in on Lovely Street last week. Avon police at 9:51 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 after another accident he was in. He was released on a written promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team still investigating the cause of the Jan. 11 accident, Rinaldo said.
