[Updated 3:40 p.m.] Body Found at Tunxis Mead in Farmington

Police have confirmed that the body is that of missing tuber Nasir Alam, 25, of East Hartford.

Farmington police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the body found in the water at Tunxis Mead Park on Monday is that of missing tuber Nasir Alam, 25, of East Hartford. Alam had been missing since Tuesday, June 18, when he fell off his tube into the Farmington River.

Police have found what they believe may be the body of Nasir Alam, 25, of East Hartford, a tuber who fell into the Farmington River on Tuesday.

The body was found Monday around 6:30 p.m. in the water at Tunxis Mead Park. According to a press release from Farmington Police, someone passing through the area saw the body and called police. 

Farmington Fire Department and Tunxis Hose were conducting training exercises in the area and recovered the body from the water. Farmington Police detectives responded to investigate the area and the body was transported to the Medical Examiner for identification. 

Last week, Alam's father made an emotional plea for people to look out for his son on the river.
