CT Transit Bus Delayed Following Accident

Police arrested a man connected to the incident.

A CT Transit bus was stalled for less than an hour after it was involved in an accident along Route 44 by Walmart Plaza in Avon before 5:30 p.m.

Police arrested a man involved in the crash and brought him to the for booking. His charges were not readily available for release at the time of publication and it is not clear which vehicle he was in.

A Jeep Cherokee collided with the back of the bus, which was heading toward Avon Mountain, carrying at least nine passengers. Emergency responders said there was a third car involved, as well. There was a black sedan parked in front of the bus as police investigated. The was also on-scene.

Another CT Transit bus came to pick up the remaining passengers and bring them to their destination just before 6 p.m. Towstar towed the jeep, which sustained minor front end damage.

Traffic was able to pass through despite the accident, as only the outer lane was blocked during the incident.
