Cyclist's Condition Improves After Accident with Avon Driver

Rider hit on Route 179 in Canton listed in good condition Monday.

As of early Monday evening, a bicyclist hit by an Avon driver's car on Route 179 in Canton last week was in good condition, a Hartford Hospital spokeswoman said.

On Friday afternoon the cyclist had been in fair condition and a day prior was listed as serious.

Life Star flew the rider, Jan St. George, of the Marion section of Southington, to Hartford Hospital on Wednesday, March 14. Avon resident Lee Morgan's car hit the cyclist on River Road (Route 179) near Gildersleeve Avenue, police said.

St. George received some assistance from an off duty medic at the scene, police said. 

Police are awaiting the results from the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction team before determining if any charges are to be filed and the exact details of the crash.
