Farmington Woods Collects Donations for Heritage Drive Fire Victims

Anyone is invited to contribute.

After a fire caused heavy damage to three Farmington Woods condominium units on Heritage Drive, displacing eight people, area residents were immediately asking how they could help.

The Avon Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.

The Farmington Woods Master Association is collecting donations for affected residents as a relief effort.

George DeVita, the golf professional for the Farmington Woods Golf Club, sent an email to golf members to inform them that two golf club members were affected in the fire. He also started a collection "for those affected on a volunteer basis," the email stated.

"We are a community first and foremost bonded by the love of the game of golf," DeVita wrote to the golfing community. "That is the secret to our success and why so many people are coming to Farmington Woods.  It is why we as a community will succeed and flourish. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those effected [sic] by the fire."

Monetary donations can be made to Farmington Woods or "Gift to the Woods," a fund earmarked for fire victims.

Please contact the master association at 860-673-6193 for more information or mail donations to Farmington Woods at P.O. Box 279, Unionville, CT 06085.

You can contribute even if you live outside of the Farmington Woods gated community. Donations are welcomed from anyone in the Avon and Farmington communities who want to help.
