A second Avon firefighter was treated for minor injuries at the scene Trick said, also declining to release that individual's identity.

The blaze appears to have started in the back of the home, which showed the most external damage, though the Fire Marshal's Office has not yet confirmed where it officially started. The rear of the off-white Colonial-style home was blackened from the blaze.

"The back was engulfed in fire," Abha Bernard said Saturday.

Rashed Ahmed, who lives across the street from the Poores, said that after hearing the commotion of the fire trucks Saturday morning, he came outside and saw flames coming from an area of the house near the kitchen.

"She had a very nice house," Ahmed said Saturday. "She did so much work on the house."

Poore bought the house in 2007 and neighbors said that developments on Camden Way are relatively new.

"The interior is pretty heavily compromised," Trick said Saturday. "The structure is still fairly intact, but the interior and all the belongings are pretty much gone."

As of 10:20 a.m. Saturday, smoke still escaped broken and open windows and rose from a hole firefighters hacked in the roof to vent the heat. The fire was completely contained soonafter and firefighters from Avon, Canton, Collinsville, Farmington, Simsbury and Burlington cleared out by noon, DiPace confirmed.

DiPace remained on scene investigating until about 4 p.m. He said he may know more about the cause by the end of the week.
