[Update] Group of Dog Lovers Searches for Missing Avon Dog Zoey

Dog Gone Recovery is a group that started informally to search for a missing Farmington dog. Ever since group members and local residents have volunteered time to search for other missing dogs in the Farmington Valley.

A local group of dog lovers that helped search for other missing dogs in the Farmington Valley like Sassy, Iris and Bosco immediately formed a Facebook page and launched a search for a missing Yorkshire terrier.

Zoey, who has a silky coat and is about a year and a half old, escaped wearing her electric fence collar from a neighborhood near Waterville Road over a week from last Friday.

Dog Gone Recovery, a group that formed after searching for missing Farmington dog Sassy and has since helped look for missing dogs in the region, started the Find Zoey in Avon Facebook page. The group has been working with Zoey's owner, Julie Miller to look for her, hanging missing dog flyers and searching woods and areas near places there have been sightings. Unionville resident Kellie Hill Failla spearheaded the Zoey search and was one of the founding members of the group.

Failla posted a message from Miller on the Facebook page Monda afternoon that there was a reported Zoey sighting on Cotswold Way in Avon recently. There were previously other sightings nearby in the Stony Corners Road neighborhood.

"The person who called said that she looks clean, well taken care of, and perhaps in someones house [sic]," the message stated.

Zoey is friendly, but scared, according to Avon-Canton Animal Control Officer Beverly LapLume.

“Don’t approach her. Try to coax her into the house," LaPlume previously said. "Call animal control or the police department and let us know where your spotted her."

Some places searched so far include a wooded trail off of Tillotson Road, Alsop Meadows, the woods behind Avon Old Farms School and Beaver Dam Pond, and the Devonwood neighborhood in Farmington.

If you think you've spotted Zoey, please call police dispatch at 860-409-4200 or Animal Control at 860-409-4205. You can also contact the owner at 860-716-3370 or 860-716-3369 if you find her.

Group members also announced on the Facebook page that they recently found another missing Farmington dog, Ellie. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
