Gun Used in 2011 Lenox Road Incident Stolen from Sylvan Street Home

The gun a boy used to shoot his bicycle helmet in Avon last July was one of three stolen from the house earlier that month, police said.

The gun an student used to last summer was one of three that he and two other juveniles stole from a Sylvan Street home, said.

The property report from a burglary on July 18, 2011, which the police provided to Patch on Friday, details $9,740 worth of stolen goods, including a Beretta 9mm, Interarms Walther PPK of 9mm caliber and a Smith & Wesson 357 revolver. That was weeks after the same individuals took $13,759 worth of merchandise from a house on East Woodhaven Drive between July 2 and 6 of 2011, police said.

The homes are less than three miles apart, according to mapquest.com.

Police arrested three teens on burglary and larceny charges related to the thefts last year. Their identities will not be released because they are under 18.

Police did not indicate to Patch which gun one teen used to during a separate incident on July 29, 2011, near Lenox Road.

The report did show that two of the stolen guns have been recovered — a Smith & Wesson revolver and a Interarms Walther PPK. The Interarms Walther PPK is being stored at the police department as evidence, according to the report.

In addition to the guns, the Sylvan Street homeowner also reported the following items stolen — a Sony Vaio laptop computer, a knife in a black leather sheeth, three fragments of a wine glass, a gold ring with diamonds and initials ($6,000), a gold ring with two lines of diamonds ($1,500), a 3-foot samurai sword with two blades ($20), a 1.5-foot samurai sword ($20), a set of six Turkish swords ($300), a Mercedes car emblem ($100), a plastic bottle, a car key, a plastic garbage bag and one large decorative knife. Police said

A total of $1,300 in stolen items has been recovered, including the guns and the car emblem.

The East Woodhaven Drive home had a much longer list of stolen items – a Sony Handycam ($799), alcohol, an alarm clock, house keys, a wooden box of jewelry ($5,000), a purple jewelry roll storage cases ($500), backpacks, a silver Nintendo DS ($150), an iPod Touch ($150), a black iPod Video ($249), an iPod dock ($79), printers, a MasterCard, gift cards, iPod shuffles ($240), personal checks, Delta business cards ($69), a black bamboo pen, an iMac, computer equipment, cocktail drinking glasses, Nintendo Wii equipment, external USB hard drives ($500) and an iPad and case ($538).

Police recovered about $8,859 worth of the stolen items, including the case and wooden box filled with jewelry, the Acer computer moniter, the Dell printer, the iMac and the Sony video camera.

Avon police have concluded their investigation. While the police closed the case, it remains pending in juvenile court.
