Local Law Enforcement Raises Money for Special Olympics at "Tip a Cop"

Avon, Canton and Simsbury police officers volunteered time at Bertucci's to help serve customers and earn tips.

Avon, Canton and Simsbury law enforcement representatives volunteered for an extra shift Tuesday to serve their community – as Bertucci's Italian Restaurant servers, that is.

At the first tri-town "Tip a Cop" for the three police departments, local police officers greeted guests, raised awareness for Special Olympics Connecticut, brought dinner rolls and olive oil to the tables and collected tips.

Customers had the option to tip the cops an extra amount over what they would tip their servers, and those donations will benefit Special Olympics Connecticut.
